Short Bio

Konstantin Bauman is a Research Scientist in the Department of Information, Operations and Management Sciences (IOMS) at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business of New York University. His research focuses on applying machine learning techniques in Recommender Systems, Educational Data Mining, and Social Networks. In particular, Konstantin is studying how to provide a comprehensive personalized academic advice to students in order to enhance their learning experience. The other direction of Konstantin’s research constitutes processing of user reviews for recommendation purposes, which includes the problems of context discovery, future reviews estimation and recommending particular aspects to the users along with the item.

The list of Konstantin’s research interests include: machine learning, data mining, recommender systems, aspect based recommendations, user generated reviews, text mining, sentiment analysis, educational data mining, predicting student performance, randomized control experiments and technology enhanced learning.

Before joining Stern School of Business of NYU, Konstantin Bauman worked for five years at the research department of Yandex LLC., dealing with data mining and machine learning problems.

Konstantin received his M.S. in Mathematics from Moscow State Lomonosov University in 2008, his M.S. in Data Mining from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 2009, and his Ph.D. in Geometry and Topology from Mathematical Department of Moscow State Lomonosov University in 2012.
